Can you ovulate the same day as LH surge?
The LH surge indicates ovulation will occur at some point within the next twelve to forty-eight hours (on average). The window is large because it is different for everyone. Some people ovulate the same day as the LH surge and some ovulate two days after the surge.
Does LH surge mean definite ovulation?
An LH surge (shown by a high level of LH in your urine) means that you will probably ovulate within the next 12 to 24 hours. If your cycle is irregular or if you rarely or never get a menstrual cycle, then you likely have a problem with ovulation.
Can your LH surge but not ovulate?
Some women may have a surge in the LH hormone without releasing an egg. This condition is known as Luteinized Unruptured Follicle Syndrome (LUFS). Other women may experience false small peaks in the LH hormone before it fully peaks, commonly seen in women with the polycystic ovarian syndrome.
How high does LH need to be to ovulate?
We identified that beginning LH testing earlier in the cycle (day 7) with a threshold of 25–30 mIU/ml may present the best predictive value for ovulation within 24 h.
Can you get pregnant even if ovulation test negative?
Can I get pregnant if the ovulation test is negative? If the test is performed correctly and the LH surge has not yet occurred, you cannot get pregnant. But in the case of a false negative or low sensitivity of the test, it is possible to become pregnant if you have sex on the days of expected ovulation.
When will I ovulate after LH peak?
Ovulation is considered to occur 28-36 hours after the beginning of the LH rise or 8-20 hours after the LH peak. Daily assessment of the preovular rise in estrogen reflects Graafian follicle development but the rise is less distinct and spread over 3-4 days with marked day to day fluctuations.
Can you still get pregnant with a low LH surge?
If your LH levels are low, you may not be getting your period. Because LH triggers ovulation, low levels of LH can prevent ovulation, and thus pregnancy.
Why do ovulation tests not work with PCOS?
The most popular type of ovulation test kit uses a urine dipstick to measure luteinizing hormone (LH) or estrogen for the expected peaks around ovulation. But if you have PCOS, you may have a constant high level or multiple peaks of these hormones. The results can falsely reflect whether or not you have ovulated.
