Today I am excited to be featuring Michelle Lin, the mompreneur behind The Rad Dad Box, a subscription box for Dads and their little ones. Michelle came up with the idea last spring while searching for a gift for her husband. What she discovered was that there was a ton of stuffed for new moms but nothing out there geared towards new dads, so she created The Rad Dad Box as a way to celebrate and acknowledge all the great dads out there.
What advice do you have for other mompreneurs looking to start their own business?
Don’t be afraid to hire a babysitter or nanny to look after your kids if you need to (sometimes you need to spend money to make money). At the same time, don’t feel bad if you’re tired of taking care of your kids and things aren’t moving as fast as you like. Your baby is only small once. Your business will always be there.
At the end of the day, what makes you smile?
My son’s smile, and watching my husband play with our son.
We were lucky enough to receive the March edition of The Rad Dad Box, and Barry and Avery had such a great time going through the box looking at all their new goodies.
This months box contained crinkle paper for the new baby, although Avery decided it was hers, that was until she saw the ‘Pop’ art camera in the box, then she spent the afternoon running around being a little photographer.
For Barry there were caffeinated gummy bears…ummm can you say yum, (I think mom might need to try those out). Then there was Manly Hands, hand sanitizer. What we loved about this product was that it is made by a mini-entreprenuer, Heath Wilson who is only 6 years old (how cute is that)! There was also an illustration from Milk Rice Comics about the ‘Football Hold: Dad Version’. This is already hanging up in my husbands man room as a reminder of how to play sports ‘dad style’.
Lastly, there was a surprise envelope that Barry was suppose to give to me. Inside was a card where I could write him a nice note about how much I appreciate him, and then surprise him with it whenever (so cute). What I love about this box is that you can tell there was a lot of thought that went into it, and it is such a great way to tell my husband, thank you for being the best dad ever!
