I love parties, and since it is almost Christmas, what better way to get you in the holiday spirit than with an Ugly Christmas Sweater party! If you are in a pinch for a festive outfit to wear, relax because I have you covered!
Since I am 6 months pregnant at the moment, it was a little difficult to find a maternity shirt to match the theme, so DIY ugly sweater project here I come. Today I am making a DIY snow globe that goes around ‘the bump’…because if you got it flaunt it, right?
Time to breakout the glue gun, garland, and eggnog to make a perfectly festive sweater for this shindig…eeek I love the holidays! Todays project is fun to do, original and pretty simple, aka no sewing required.
What you will need:
- Maternity Shirt
- Clear plastic bowl (I couldn’t find one so I used round tupperware)
- Tiny Christmas Tree
- Christmas Window Decals
- Mini Marshmallows
- Glue Gun
1. Put on your maternity shirt, place the bowl where you want it to sit over your belly, then trace around it with a piece of chalk. This way you can glue the bowl on without the shirt being on you. However I did find it pretty hard to do this myself, and had to talk my husband into helping me out with this part of the project.
2. Use a glue gun to secure the tree to the inside of your bowl. Then glue your window decals to the inside of the circle that you traced out. If you have a helper, you can glue everything on the sweater while you are wearing it.
Helpful Tip: If you are hot glueing everything right on you, make sure you have a several layers of newspaper between your shirt and your skin so that the glue doesn’t burn you.
3. Add the marshmallows into your bowl, but don’t glue them. Let them naturally fall so that when you move you can have a real snow globe effect.
4.Glue your bowl to the shirt where you have traced it out, or get your helper to glue the bowl right over your bump.
5.Finish your snow globe with a few wraps of garland around the bowl, and secure in place with a few dabs of glue. This will hide all of the glue that you used to secure the bowl…plus this adds some gold glitz to your outfit!
There you have it, a perfect Ugly Christmas Sweater for the soon to be mommys. Trust me, if this bad boy doesn’t get you into the Christmas spirit, then I don’t know what will!
