How to Make the Perfect Boho Guestbook

How do I put this nicely, traditional guest books are…BORING! Lets be honest, we put them out for weddings and parties then never look at them. They just get added to a box in our basement and collect dust for the next however many years. So why not transform that boring old guest book into a piece of art to display on your wall.

This next project is a perfect addition to Avery’s boho themed first birthday party. Now we have a dreamcatcher piñata, a tipi birthday tent, flower crowns and of course dreamcatchers. So obviously we needed a guest book with the same flower child, good time feeling. This is also a great way for Avery to look back when she’s older, and see all of the people that were with her celebrating her first birthday.

This dream catcher guest book is easy to set up, and when the party is over it’s a great piece of art to hang up on your wall. This project is similar to the dream catcher project I did a few weeks ago, but the fabric that’s getting laced on the bottom of the hoop is also going to double as the signing area where the people at the party will write their names and advice for the birthday girl.

What you will need:

  • Embroidery hoop
  • Doily
  • Fabric Strips
  • Flowers/Feathers (decorations)

Step 1-Stretch the doilie in your embroidery hoop, then cut away the excess material.

Step 2- Get some white fabric and rip it into long strips. I was out of white fabric so my secret is an old pillow case (shhh, don’t tell my husband that we are slowly running out of house linens).

At the party leave these strips of material out with a pen and have the guests write their names and advice on that fabric.

Step 3- Once the party is over string the fabric pieces of advice along the bottom of you embroidery hoop. Jazz it up with feathers and flowers, then hang somewhere special.
