Havana, Cuba, birthplace of the mojito. Kelowna, Canada, birthplace of my addiction to mojitos…or maybe cocktails in general. I think its because anytime you have a mojito you are somewhere warm and in a good mood. Think about it, when was the last time you had a mojito (perhaps last week)? And were you in a bad mood sipping on your mojito? Probably not, and was it snowing outside? Probably not. Therefore according to my drink math mojitos equal summertime happiness!
Todays rendition of the mojito is refreshing, bursting with fresh fruit, and turns into a pretty pink colour. Pretty much its a win, win, win!
What you will need:
- Raspberry Vodka
- Raspberries and Blackberries
- Lemons, Limes, & Ginger (Mojito Base)
Step 1- Make your mojito base. Last weeks mojito was also a recipe for a classic base mix. You can always use that mix as a starting point to make your own versions of a mojito. If you still have some mix left over from last week then YAY you are half way there. If you drank it all (like me), then click here for a refresher course on making your base.
Step 2- In a glass add three raspberries and three blackberries. Muddle them together, then add 1 oz. (or more) of raspberry vodka.
Step 3- Take 5 mint leaves in your palm and slap your hands together. This will release the mint oils without bruising your leaves. Add your ice.
Step 4-Pour your homemade mojito mix into 3/4 of the glass. Stir all your ingredients together then top with soda water.
Step 5- Go outside, enjoy the sun, and smile because it’s Mojito Monday!
